XRE500 Handheld XRE1000 Handheld XL13.2 Handheld XL7.2 Handheld

   ► FEATURES

The Metalsub hand lamps are just as carefully designed and just as sturdily built as the cable lamps and are possibly even easier to use. Choose from 2 lamps and a LED module, switch between 3 light strengths or an SOS signal, and plug in the charger once you’ve finished diving. The lamp is fitted with an overpressure valve, which never needs to be opened. The XL13.2 version of this unique lamp will be included in the range from spring 2008.

   ► LIGHTS AND LAMPS

Today’s buzzword is HID.

HID: that stands for ‘High Intensity Discharge’, in other words: extra high intensity gas discharge lamps … Yes, they’d almost make you forget there are other systems.

Nothing could be further from the truth. We mustn’t act as if the choice of a lamp is a question of fashion of course, or that only the most super-powerful lamp will suffice. No, the best lamp is the lamp which best meets your needs, per Euro invested.

After all, many divers don’t seem to be aware of the simple truth that too much light is not always a good thing either. If you look at it that way, you’re guaranteed to get more satisfaction from your choice. Metalsub gives you the choice between:

● Halogen, a firm favourite
● LED, a very nice alternative
● HID, the choice for power

We’ve drawn up a simple pictogram because a picture paints a thousand words. It certainly makes for much easier comparison.

HALOGEN
Halogen lights have a slightly yellow undertone. It’s the least complicated technology and is suitable for most applications. It gives lots of ‘warm’ light but has a relatively high energy consumption.

LED's or "LIGHT EMITTING DIODE's"
LEDs are available in many different colours, but we aim for daylight where possible under water. The light is ‘colder’ than halogen and gives a more realistic result on photos and videos.

LEDs are also top of the league when it comes to economy. A charged battery lasts many more hours while giving the same amount of light. The technique is less simple however, which is reflected in the price tag.

HID or "HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE"
Gas discharge lamps have a very high light yield. Their light is even closer to daylight, which makes them ideal for photo and video purposes. The best known type of gas discharge lamp is your camera flashlight, and we all know how much light that can generate in a very short time. However, it’s not as simple to keep such lamps burning continuously. HIDs therefore have a complex technology, are expensive and generally need to be handled with care. However, ‘with care’ has never been the basis upon which Metalsub works; the inside components are also robust. Simply switching it on and off, which is normally bad news for an HID, is not a problem at all for your Metalsub lamp. So switch it all you like. It’s a question of ingenious electronics.

This advanced technology gives your Metalsub HID a long and carefree life. Moreover, the same electronic components ensure you get hours’ more light from your batteries.

A characteristic of many HIDs is the red halo which always appears on photos. A Metalsub HID is always recognizable, however dark it is: an enormous circle of pure white light, evenly distributed, without the ugly red halo.
